Lesson 2 Watch this movie that tells why people migrated to Australia. With a partner, on an A3 sheet, use the provided Venn Diagram, that tells you about Annie and Yayha's experiences before they came to Australia and since they arrived here. On one side write Annie's name. On the other side write Yayha's. In the middle write what is the same or similar about their experiences.
Lesson 3 When you finish watching the above video, go to this site http://www.immi.gov.au/media/success_stories/index.htm With a partner, read an immigrant's story. Summarise what you found out about the person from the article. If you have a strong word intelligence, then help someone who has strengths in other areas with their reading understanding.
Write 5 questions, for another group to answer, about the migrant. Think of 5 more questions you would have liked to ask the migrant that were not discussed in the article.
Write 10 questions that you will use for your interview with a migrant.

Students work in groups of 4 or 5 to read about the experiences of 5 different migrants to Australia. Retell the story to the other groups. Try to identify which artefacts in the box belong to which migrant. Justify and explain their thinking.
